At the end of my rope

I am 60, God forbid, and have lost the battle of the bulge. Over the years I have done the different diets, and lost a few, and gained it all back, time and time again. In the last five years, my digestion has become more difficult, and I get bloated, with pain and gas. My diet is basically a very good one, with whole grains, fruit, very little red meat, and fresh vegetables. I do cheat a bit, but mostly it is in the form of plain overeating the "good" food, not so much the junk food. I avoid sodas and am not a dessert eater. But, I do like my bread and just plain eat too much. It shows. I am about 80 lbs overweight, and don't have the energy to get out and walk, which I always did, and dance! I love swimming and bike riding, but the energy is not there. I am tired much of the time. Dairy, which I love, makes me very tired. So, I think that the food combining is the only thing that is going to save me at this point, and I got my book, "Food Combining for Health" off the shelf and am reading it again. The Hay system varies from some of the other systems, and is not as restrictive. I hope it works as well. I tried Suzanne Somers system, but it was hard to stick to, and didn't. I am hoping the Hay system will work better. Today is my first day, and I am hopeful. If you read too many books or plans, it can get confusing, as there are differing opinions about certain foods and if they are allowed to be combined with other foods. I say pick one, stay with it if it relieves the discomfort, and don't worry about it. The main premise, keeping proteins away from starch should be a "cakewalk" but the rest, in my mind, get a bit muddled. Anyway, onward and upward. I hope you have luck with your site.
